The open joint-stock company Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy System (JSC FGC UES) is incorporated in accordance with the restructuring program designed for the Russian Federation power industry as organization performing the Unified national (All-Russia) electric grid (UNEG) management with intent of its maintenance and development. State registration of JSC FGC UES took place on June 25, 2002.
JSC FGC UES is a key element in infrastructure of the created Russian energy market. In accordance with the applicable laws, JSC FGC UES is a natural monopoly as well. The company business is regulated by the government.
FGC UES operates power grid equipment in 73 regions of the Russian Federation, which have total land of 13.6 million sq. km and population of about 140 million people.
The Company ensures the proper functioning of 124,5 km of electricity transmission lines and 854 sub-stations with voltage ranging from 35-1150 kV.
At 2011 year end the Federal Grid Company provided the actual balancing electric energy supply from grids of the Unified national (All-Russia) electric grid (UNEG) in bulk 503 948,36 mio kW.
In accordance with the effective edition of the Charter, the Charter capital of JSC FGC UES equals RUR 630 193 329 370,00 that is split into 1 260 386 658 740 of ordinary registered uncertified shares with nominal value of RUR 0.50 each.
The Russian Government is the Company’s largest shareholder – holding 79.55% of the Company’s shares. The remaining 20.45% of the Company’s shares are held by more than 470,000 minority shareholders.
JSC FGC UES was given BBB rating (international scale) by Standard & Poor’s and Baa2 (international scale) by Moody’s.

- providing services for electric energy transmission and connection to the electric grid to participants in the wholesale energy market;
- investment activities in the Unified national (All-Russia) electric grid development;
- maintenance of electric grids;
- technical supervision for grid facilities.
