The complex of facilities for power supply to the country’s largest petrochemical complex of raw hydrocarbons deep conversion ZapSibNeftekhim, a project of SIBUR, was triumphantly launched in Tyumen Oblast. The key element is a 500 kV substation of PJSC FGC UES, Tobol, at the cost of 5.3 bn RUB, which is the first Russian power facility of high voltage class, where advance digital technologies have been comprehensively implemented. At the same time, the SIBUR’s central distribution substation of ZapSibNeftekhim, through which the enterprise connects to the Unified National Power Grid, was commissioned. The facility was built by FGC UES subsidiary company, CEMS UES.

The governor of Tyumen Oblast, Vladimir Yakushev, the Head of FGC UES, Andrey Murov, and the Head of Sibur, Dmitry Konov, took part in the commissioning ceremony.

This new infrastructure enables the process connection of ZapSibNeftekhim power receivers with maximum output of 300 MW to the Unified National Power Grid. 

Advanced innovative technologies mainly manufactured in Russia were implemented at Tobol 500 kV digital substation to increase the reliability and effectiveness of operation. 

Two-circuit towers in this voltage class were also installed at two overhead lines connecting power facilities for the first time in Russia. This allows to ensure their redundancy, achieve metal saving and reduce the line route width.

ZapSibNefthekhim project involves the construction of pyrolysis plant with output of 1.5 mln tons of ethylene, about 500 thousand tons of propylene and 100 thousand tons of butane-butylene fraction per annum and plants for production of various polyethylene and polypropylene grades with total output of 2 mln. tons per annum. The implementation of ZapSibNeftekhim project is aimed to develop deep conversion of by-products of oil and gas production in Western Siberia, including associated petroleum gas (APG), into marketable products used in construction, housing and utilities sector, automobile construction, medicine and other areas.

The company employees cover the regional needs for quality power supply. Largely due to our cooperation, the regional industrial policy develops effectively. 

The company implements the most complicated projects to improve the power grid. But even in this context, this project is unique. Tobol substation will help to provide reliable power supply to the prospective and key production for Tyumen Oblast. 

Sibur’s project for deep conversion of raw hydrocarbons, which is implemented in Tobolsk, is a remarkable example of careful and successful investment strategy. Operating enterprises and enterprises under construction form a powerful cluster that makes a major contribution in Russian economy”.

Murov: “500 kV Tobol substation of FGC UES is a pilot project for using integrated digitalization technologies at power facilities of extra-high voltage. It is symbolic that the country’s largest petrochemical complex ZapSibNeftekhim is equipped with today’s most up-to-date network infrastructure in its class. Until 2025, we plan to implement 32 more digital substations within the Unified National Power Grid”.

Chairman of the Management Board of PJSC SIBUR Holding, Dmitry Konov: “Tobol 500” is the most important element of ZapSibNeftekhim power supply system. 500kV ZapSib substation of SIBUR will take electric power from Tobol and reduce the output until the voltage class required in this class. These are the advanced technological solutions not only by national, but also by global standards. The launch of power supply from ZapSibNeftekhim will prepare the facilities that stand first in the project implementation schedule for start-up and commissioning”.

The governor of Tyumen Oblast, Vladimir Yakushev, the Head of FGC UES, Andrey Murov, and the Head of Sibur, Dmitry Konov, took part in the commissioning ceremony.

This new infrastructure enables the process connection of ZapSibNeftekhim power receivers with maximum output of 300 MW to the Unified National Power Grid. 

Advanced innovative technologies mainly manufactured in Russia were implemented at Tobol 500 kV digital substation to increase the reliability and effectiveness of operation. 

Two-circuit towers in this voltage class were also installed at two overhead lines connecting power facilities for the first time in Russia. This allows to ensure their redundancy, achieve metal saving and reduce the line route width.

ZapSibNefthekhim project involves the construction of pyrolysis plant with output of 1.5 mln tons of ethylene, about 500 thousand tons of propylene and 100 thousand tons of butane-butylene fraction per annum and plants for production of various polyethylene and polypropylene grades with total output of 2 mln. tons per annum. The implementation of ZapSibNeftekhim project is aimed to develop deep conversion of by-products of oil and gas production in Western Siberia, including associated petroleum gas (APG), into marketable products used in construction, housing and utilities sector, automobile construction, medicine and other areas.

The company implements the most complicated projects to improve the power grid. But even in this context, this project is unique. Tobol substation will help to provide reliable power supply to the prospective and key production for Tyumen Oblast. 

Sibur’s project for deep conversion of raw hydrocarbons, which is implemented in Tobolsk, is a remarkable example of careful and successful investment strategy. Operating enterprises and enterprises under construction form a powerful cluster that makes a major contribution in Russian economy”.

Chairman of the Management Board of FGC UES, A.E. Murov: “500 kV Tobol substation of FGC UES is a pilot project for using integrated digitalization technologies at power facilities of extra-high voltage. It is symbolic that the country’s largest petrochemical complex ZapSibNeftekhim is equipped with today’s most up-to-date network infrastructure in its class. Until 2025, we plan to implement 32 more digital substations within the Unified National Power Grid”.

Chairman of the Management Board of PJSC SIBUR Holding, Dmitry Konov: “Tobol 500” is the most important element of ZapSibNeftekhim power supply system. 500kV ZapSib substation of SIBUR will take electric power from Tobol and reduce the output until the voltage class required in this class. These are the advanced technological solutions not only by national, but also by global standards. The launch of power supply from ZapSibNeftekhim will prepare the facilities that stand first in the project implementation schedule for start-up and commissioning”.
