Effects include higher reliability of power supply to Bryansk consumers, the opportunity of delivering 30 MW worth of electric capacity to Bryansk Engineering Works (part of the Transmashholding Group), one of the largest diesel loco manufacturers.

The energy facility features two 110 kV one-dimensional cells, 220 kV domestically manufactured auto transformer with a capacity of 125 MVA. Pre-commissioning activities are currently underway and will be completed in 2018. 

New equipment features microprocessor-based power system protection. Such systems discover and eliminate asynchronous conditions and equipment current overload, record line outages. The benefits offered by the solution include a broad range of recorded events and continuous diagnostic self-testing.

The product offering of Bryansk Engineering Works is primarily represented by mainline and shunting diesel locomotives. A pending project for the manufacturing plant upgrade entails, among other things, the implementation of automated systems and robotic cells that require higher power supply reliability.

The 220 kV Mashzavod substation with a capacity of 125 MVA was commissioned in 1993. The rehabilitation project will cause the energy facility’s capacity to grow to 250 MVA.
