10/04/2019 Experts of CIGRE and Russian companies discuss global trends of power industry development at REW "Evolution of Power Systems: A Global Perspective" panel session organized with support from Rosseti (FGC UES) and CIGRE, the largest international industrial association, took place at the International Forum "Russian Energy Week 2019". The focus was on managerial and technological transformations that are likely to occur in the power industry in the next 10-15 years. The discussion was moderated by Andrey Murov, Chairman of the Management Board, head of the Russian National Committee of CIGRE.
10/04/2019 Federal Grid Company finished all basic preparations for the cold season Rosseti (FGC UES) has completed the basic works preparing facilities of the Unified Power Network for the forthcoming autumn and winter season (AWS). The amount of funding for the maintenance program has been 14.2 bn rubles, which is 1.1 bn more than in 2018. The data was submitted to the National Session "On preparing electrical power facilities for AWS 2019-2020", which was held at the REW-2019 guided by Aleksandr Novak, Minister of Energy of Russia.
09/30/2019 FGC UES provides power for the growing freight flow to the port zone on the south coast of the Gulf of Finland FGC UES (Rosseti Group) has connected two traction substations of the October Railway, "Vladimirskaya" and "Ulyanovka", to the Unified National Electric Power Grid (UNPG). This completes the multi-stage project of connecting new traction transit of JSCo "RZD" consisting of nine substations. Consumers are provided with an aggregate output of over 138 MW required for the development of the Ust-Luga railroad hub.
09/23/2019 First switching point to supply electricity to the Power of Siberia gas pipeline is on The first switching point of FGC UES (Rosseti Group), 220 kV "Zeya", has been energized, with 220 kV transmission line entries, which participates in the power supply of the Power of Siberia gas pipeline. The project investments amounted to 1.1 bn rubles. The works have been made as part of the process connection of the pipeline's compressor stations to the trunk networks. In total, 8 of them will be connected. Construction of two more switching points of the same kind has been planned: 220 kV "Amga" in 2019 and 220 kV "Nagorny" in 2020. Consumers will be provided with 49.5 MW of power.
09/23/2019 Autumn Fountain Show takes place in Saint Petersburg with assistance from FGC UES Festive events were held at the Grand Cascade of the Peterhof National Museum on September 20 and 21. The Autumn Fountain Show included a large-scale multimedia performance #Empress2019, marking 290 years since the birth of Catherine the Great. The show was attended by more than 30 thousand visitors. Rosseti (FGC UES) was sponsoring this project.
09/17/2019 Elginsky coal mine joins the Unified Power System of Russia FGC UES (Rosseti Group) has commenced commercial operation of the 220 kV "Elgaugol" substation and the 220 kV "Prizeyskaya – Elgaugol" transmission line for the needs of the Elginsky coal mine of Mechel PJSC. The power has been supplied from the Unified National Electric Grid of Russia. Transition to centralized power supply will allow the enterprise to significantly reduce the cost of energy consumption and switch to more efficient equipment.
09/10/2019 FGC UES funnels 728 mn rubles to upgrade 500 kV switchyard, key power output circuit element of Iriklin TPP FGC UES (Rosseti Group) has commenced refurbishing the 500 kV switchyard of the Iriklin TPP, the biggest power station in the Southern Urals. The fleet of 500 kV breakers will be totally renewed at this grid facility. This will improve the reliability of power supply to consumers in the Orenburg and Chelyabinsk regions, the Republic of Bashkortostan, as well as interstate transit to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
09/09/2019 FGC UES increases capacity of Bryukhovetskaya 220 kV substation, one of Kuban's power hubs The first stage of upgrade of the Bryukhovetskaya 220 kV substation has been completed. The utility's capacity has been raised up to 250 MVA, improving the reliability of power supply to large food industry enterprises in the Krasnodar Territory such as Kuban confectionary factory and Timashevsk dairy plant of Wimm-Bill-Dann Co. Further steps of the project will include upgrades to the switching and metering equipment as well as wide-area protection systems. The volume of investments by FGC UES (Rosseti Group) amounted to about 600 mn rubles.
09/04/2019 Federal Grid Company (Rosseti FGC UES) starts up Prompark 220 kV substation, Nadezhdinskaya PDA power hub in Primorie A festive ceremony of commissioning the Prompark 220 kV substation in the suburbs of Vladivostok took place on the first day of the Eastern Economic Forum. Residents of the Nadezhdinskaya priority development area will receive electricity from it. FGC UES (Rosseti Group) invested 2.3 bn rubles in the technical connection project. Alexander Novak, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation; Pavel Livinsky, General Director of Rosseti; Andrey Murov, Chairman of the Board of FGC UES; and Aslan Kanukoev, General Director of KRDV took part in the startup ceremony.
08/28/2019 Russia's new digital complex for prevention of power system instability first introduced in the country's grids FGC UES (Rosseti Group) and SO UPS have implemented a joint project to install a new digital complex at the key Urals power supply center, Yuzhnaya 500 kV substation in Yekaterinburg, intended to prevent instability of the power system. The solution is based on high-speed digital information exchange between relay protection and automation devices using the international protocol IEC 61850-8.1. Based on the results of its work, it is planned to replicate this digital technology in the Unified National Power Grid.
FGC UES to provide power for the growing cargo traffic to the ports of Southern Russia
To expand the throughput capacity of railways towards the ports of Southern Russia to an annual volume of 130 mn tons of cargo by 2025, FGC UES (Rosseti Group) is implementing a project to connect three traction substations of JSC ‘RZD’ to the Unified National Power Grid (UNPG). The project investments will amount to 1.63 bn rubles.

08/19/2019 Reconstruction of one of the key power centers of Tyumen Region, 500 kV Irtysh substation, is complete New switching equipment and microprocessor-based relay protection and automation devices have been installed at the power facility of PJSC FGC UES (Rosseti Group) in an upgrade project. This has improved the reliability of power supply to Tobolsky district of the Tyumen region, where big oil-and-gas and petrochemical enterprises are situated, such as SIBUR Tobolsk, Transneft Siberia, Gazprom Transgaz Surgut, and others. The total amount of investment into this upgrade has been 271 mn rubles.
08/12/2019 Russia's largest flexible foam producer gets more reliable power supply PJSC FGC UES (Rosseti Group) has installed new measuring systems at the 220 kV Kuznetsk substation, which feeds power to consumers of Kuznetsk, a city with over 80,000 people, and industrial enterprises of the Penza region, including the new factory of FoamLine Group, which manufactures 30k tons of flexible foam per year.
08/08/2019 Lightning protection improved on key backbone lines of Transbaikal and Buryatia PJSC FGC UES (Rosseti Group) has enhanced the lightning-surge proofness of eleven 220-500 kV transmission lines in Transbaikal Territory and the Republic of Buryatia. In total, over the past seven years, the protection of 28 OHTLs located in areas with high thunderstorm activity has been strengthened. The total amount of investments in the project exceeds 883 mn rubles. As a result, the number of lightning outages in these regions has been almost halved.
08/05/2019 Omsk Region's most powerful substation to have its 500 kV breakers totally renewed PJSC FGC UES (Rosseti Group) has come to the final stage of replacement of the switching equipment at Omsk region's biggest substation, 500 kV Tavricheskaya. Taking into account the previous works done here, the facility will see complete renovation of 500 kV ultra-high voltage switches. This will improve the reliability of operation of the substation, which provides power to Omsk and its surroundings, as well as power flows between the Urals, Siberia and the Republic of Kazakhstan. The company will invest 304 mn rubles in the project.
07/31/2019 Facilities of the Polyus gold mining company in the Krasnoyarsk Krai are connected to the UNPG PJSC FGC UES (Rosseti Group) has completed the connection to the Unified National Power Grid (UNPG) of the 110 kV Blagodatninskaya substation built by Polyus for the power supply of the Blagodatnoye gold ore field. In accordance with the agreement, the grid company ensured the possibility of supplying the field loads with a maximum capacity of 48 MW. By 2022 it is planned to increase the volume of maximum capacity transmitted from the 220 kV Taiga substation to Polyus consumers more than 3 times – up to 165 MW.
