FGC UES (Rosseti Group) has started the total revamping of the Teya 220 kV substation in the Republic of Khakassia. The utility's equipment will be fully renovated. This will significantly improve the reliability of power supply to consumers in the Askiz district of the republic, where about 40,000 people live and the Teya Sports Training Center, a training base for the Russian national skiing teams, is located. It will also be possible to connect a new 315-kilometer transit, which will strengthen the links between the region's power system and the Kemerovo region.

Power transformers of the substation will be replaced by more modern and reliable analogs with a total capacity of 32 MVA. Instead of the 220 kV and 6 kV oil breakers, gas-insulated and vacuum units will be installed, which are more fire-safe and environmentally-friendly.

Relay protection and emergency control systems, as well as auxiliary systems, will be fully modernized. An automated process control system will be introduced at the utility, which will allow remote monitoring of equipment from the substation control house. In addition, new main and ancillary buildings and facilities will be constructed.

The upgrade of the substation will be carried out step-by-step without any restrictions in the supply of electricity to consumers. As a result of the project, it will be possible to connect the newly-built 220 kV Mezhdurechenskaya – Stepnaya power line, which will provide additional connections between the power systems of the Kemerovo region and the Republic of Khakassia. The new energy transit will create conditions for the development of the Trans-Siberian Railway and enhance the reliability of power supply to the two neighboring regions of Siberia.

Construction of the Mezhdurechenskaya – Stepnaya 220 kV line is included in the comprehensive plan for modernization and expansion of the backbone infrastructure approved by the Russian Government's Decree No. 2101-r of 30.09.2018, as well as in Federal Grid Company's macro-project for developing the external power supply system of the Baikal-Amur and Trans-Siberian Railways.

Federal Grid Company to funnel RUB 1.5bn to totally revamp Khakassia's power supply hub

11/06/2019 Federal Grid Company to funnel RUB 1.5bn to totally revamp Khakassia's power supply hub
