This will raise the maximum permissible flow in the Krasnoyarsk, Khakassia – Tyva section by 62%, up to 390 MW, which will improve the reliability of power supply to consumers in the area during the emergency response and repair work and will, in the longer term, allow connecting new productions and infrastructure facilities. The company's volume of investments will be 53 mn rubles.

In order to raise the transit capacity, 30 units of made-in-Russia modern electrical equipment will be installed before the end of 2020 to replace the obsolete fleet: 24 current transformers to feed the instruments and relay protection and control (RPC) devices, a high-frequency line trap, and five RPC cabinets. The devices protect the substation equipment and incoming transmission lines from short circuits, which raises the stability and reliability of operation of the power units.

New primary equipment will be installed with higher rated (maximum permissible) current, so the allowable flow in the Krasnoyarsk, Khakassia – Tyva section will grow from 240 to 390 MW.

The Republic of Tyva receives power via two backbone 220 kV transmission lines from the Republic of Khakassia and the Krasnodar Territory. The first OHTL is routed from Abaza 220 kV substation in southern Khakassia to Ak-Dovurak 220 kV substation in Tyva and then to Chadan 220 kV. The second line connects Ergaki 220 kV substation at the south of the Krasnodar Territory with Turan 220 kV power center and then with Kyzyl 220 kV substation in the Tyvan capital.

In 2015, Rosseti FGC UES built the new Kyzyl – Chadan 220 kV backbone line, linking these lines into a 220 kV energy ring, so the maximum allowable power flow to the region's power system was increased by 40% and up to 240 MW.

Abaza 220 kV substation with 45 MVA of installed capacity is situated in southern Khakassia. It delivers energy to the republic's industrial enterprises and feeds power to the auxiliaries of the Abaza CHP that provides electricity and heat for Abaza town populated with 15 thousand people. Ak-Dovurak and Turan 220 kV substations are among the four backbone power centers of Tyva. Their transformer capacity is 183.9 MVA for the first and 50 MVA for the second. They wheel the electricity to Tyva and feed the areas around.

Rosseti FGC UES increasing throughput capacity of Tyva power transit

07/14/2020 Rosseti FGC UES increasing throughput capacity of Tyva power transit Rosseti FGC UES (FGC UES, PJSC) has commenced revamping three key power centers involved in the transit of electricity to the Republic of Tyva: Abaza, Turan, and Ak-Dovurak 220 kV substations.
